El Andalón (The Healer)

El Andalón (The Healer) follows the footsteps of Don Sergio Castro, a Mexican hero. For almost 50 years, he has worked the land with the indigenous people of Chiapas, built schools and treated burn and wound victims at no cost.

Donations by tourists at his own ethnographic museum, which houses an important collection of Mayan clothing, have funded his humanitarian work

But times are more trying than ever, and Don Sergio operates on the edge of an economic precipice. Can he continue to serve the people who depend on his good works?

El Andalón has screened at 25 film festivals around the world and won 6 awards since its world premiere at the Los Angeles Latino Film Festival in August 2010. For updates on the film, please see our Blog page or follow us on FACEBOOK.
